Wood Badge Oct. 13-15 & Oct. 28-29
Wood Badge is the Boy Scouts of America's ultimate leadership training designed to meet the advanced leadership needs of Scouters in all aspects of the BSA, whether unit, district, or council level – from assistant den leaders to Scoutmasters, from Cubmasters to Venturing Advisors, from committee members to commissioners. It is a fun, energetic and inspiring course guaranteed to infuse your unit with fun and meaning – all designed to fulfill the mission of the BSA, and ensure our youth is getting everything they are promised from the program. |

National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) is an exciting, action-packed six-day council-level program designed to provide Scouts in troops, crews, and ships with leadership skills and experience they can use in their home units and other situations demanding leadership of self and others. NYLT is filled with activities, presentations, challenges, discussions, and camping in a team and model unit environment. Participants learn and practice skills that are valuable at home, church, school, work, and the Scouting unit. The course is designed for Scouts BSA members who are at least 13 years old, and for Venturers or Sea Scouts who are at least 13 years old and have completed eighth grade. |

*Basic Instructor Training (BIT) must be current when taking the basic shooting or basic instructor class. The certification lasts two years. |

Cub Scout Rangemaster Training This Saturday, Sept 9 @ Bovay 8am-5pm |

Cub Scout Rangemaster Training includes both the classroom and the practical training for Cub Scout Rangemaster (archery and bb gun). Cub Scout Rangemasters are needed for District and Council events to help set up and safely run ranges for archery, bb guns and slingshots. Cub Scouts are only allowed to paricipate in shooting sports at a District (Rocket Day, Webelos Woods, Day Camp) or Council event and lots of help is needed. Please take this course if you are interested in helping out. |

A cornerstone of the Scout programs is training.Training courses are conducted by districts and some by the Sam Houston Area Council. Trainings include First Aid, Climbing, Shooting, BALOO, IOLS and Position Specific Training.
