Phoenix District
FALL TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES

Every Scout deserves a trained leader.

That's not just a cliche. The Phoenix District believes training is important because it gives Scouters more resources to offer fun, exciting and safe programs for our Scouts.

Our excellent training team is offering a variety of sessions this fall to help Scouters in all positions Be Prepared for the upcoming year.

Some of these trainings are available in a series of online videos but in-person training allows Scouters to learn from other Scouters, share ideas and ask questions.

BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation)

Oct. 13-14 | Troop 1323 Hut (5927 Louetta Rd.)

BALOO is a BSA national training that introduces Cub Scout leaders to the basics of Cub Scout camping and outdoor events. It is an overnight event.

One BALOO trained leader is required for any Cub Scout den or pack outdoor event, including packing camping, overnighters and Webelos den overnighters. We recommend each Pack has multiple BALOO trained leaders to make sure an event isn't canceled if one leader can't attend.

BALOO training is comprised of two components – an online component, and a practical, hands-on component. Both components must be completed to qualify as a BALOO trained leader. The online component at my.scouting.org contains introductory and basic information and must be completed prior to the practical component. The practical component is an overnight campout.
