Powder Horn 2013

Hosted by the Sam Houston Area Council, BSA

This training is held over two weekends, September 20-22 and October 18-20.

Powder Horn is 'Challenge by Choice', but you must participate in at least 10 of the training sessions offered over the 6-day course to receive your Powder Horn recognition.

Adults must meet the following prerequisites:

  •    Be a registered member of the Boy Scouts of America
  •    Completed basic training for their current registered position
  •    Bring a fully completed Annual Health & Medical Record - parts A, B, C, D - and meet the     physical requirements listed in Part C
  •    Complete BSA Safe Swim Defense, Safety Afloat, Trek Safely, Climb On Safely, Venturing Youth Protection and Hazardous Weather on-line training
  •    Must pass a BSA Swimmer Test to be able to fully participate in all boating and aquatic activities   

Youth must meet the following prerequisites:

  •    Completed the leadership training for their current registered position
  •    Bring a fully completed Annual Health & Medical Record - parts A, B, C, D - and meet the physical requirements listed in Part C
  •    Complete BSA Safe Swim Defense, Safety Afloat, Trek Safely, Climb On Safely, Venturing Youth Protection and Hazardous Weather on-line training
